      Antique Early 1900s Old Sleepy
      Eye Pitcher By Monmouth Pottery
      8 Inch 2.5 Quarts

      Large, antique, stoneware pitcher
with a 2 1/2 quart capacity. It was
originally used on a farm in
      Wyoming.
      The Monmouth Pottery Company
      began in 1894 in Monmouth,
      Iinois, by William Hanna and
associates to make use of the
vast deposits of stoneware clays in that area. They produced useful
      items prefer butter churns, crocks
      jars, and pitchers. Monmouth
claimed it was the largest pottery
in the world in 1898. They were
      one of the seven Midwestern
      companies that joined together to
      form the Western Stoneware
      Company in 1906. See photos
